Goals, Purpose and Philosophy

• The Primary goal of Bear Hugs is to provide a safe, loving,and stimulating environment for your child to learn and grow, while you are at work.
  
• We offer a home away from home like environment, with "siblings" of all all ages with whom they can play and socialize and learn from.
• We offer a play-based, child led program, with many opportunities for learning through play. Play is a child's work! 
  
• We offer a learning environment...learning is not necessarily the ABC"s and 123's, but is also the learning of values. The learning of honesty, respect, self-reliance and potential, self discipline, moderation, the values of being: dependable, loved, sensitivity to others, kindness, friendliness and fairness are the values of giving.
• I believe it is important that children learn boundaries, that help to keep them same, yet still allow them to be adventures.
  
• I practice redirection in my discipline, as well as time-out, when deemed appropriate.
• Children are taught which behaviors are appropriate or not, and why...then given alternatives that are acceptable.
• We foster unconditional love...this kind of love is very important to me because children should not grow up feeling that in order to be loved and cared for they must meet numerous conditions.
  
• To help develop their self-esteem and confidence so they can learn how to handle difficult situations for themselves in the future.
• All this information can be important in understanding the child's needs and feelings, as well as, their behaviors and well being.
